Roast turkey is a popular dish at Christmas.

At Christmas, there are certain kinds of Christmas food that are popular among many people. Some popular foods are traditional, others are not, and most Christmas foods vary between cultures. A few examples of common Christmas food can be found below.

Christmas Dinner[]

Christmas dinner is a meal that is usually served throughout the holiday season. This meal may be served at every point between the evening of Christmas Eve and the evening of Christmas Day. In the custom of Christian feast day celebrations, the meals are always especially rich and substantial, and they are an important part of festivities conducted to mark the advent of Christmastide. In certain instances, the meal includes a ceremonial feature linked to the religious holiday, such as grace prayer. Turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, and carrots are all part of a traditional Christmas meal. Such pork, roast beef, or ham may be used as well. Pumpkin or apple pie, raisin pudding, Christmas pudding, or fruitcake are all common desserts.

Mince Pie[]

A mince pie is a Christmas snack that is common in certain cultures (most notably in the United Kingdom). Mince pies are a pastry shell filled with mincemeat, which is a preserve made with apple, raisins, and sultanas, herbs, and either suet or vegetable shortening. Modern mince pies are typically devoid of beef. Mince pies are usually served cold, but they may also be heated. In the United Kingdom, a mince pie is considered Santa Claus' favourite treat, and children often put one or two mince pies out for him (which, according to some myths, is the reason he is overweight). Mince pies have been eaten as part of a typical British Christmas since the 16th century.

Candy Cane[]

A candy cane is a stick candy in the form of a cane that is commonly associated with Christmas and Saint Nicholas Day. It's usually white with red streaks and peppermint scent, although it's also available in a number of other flavours and colours.

Christmas Pudding[]

Christmas Pudding

A Christmas pudding (also known as plum pudding) is a steamed pudding containing dried fruits, sugar, treacle, and nuts, as well as spices. Some puddings are moistened with brandy (also known as alcohol), and many often contain suet. A Christmas pudding is round and very dark brown in colour, regularly topped with holly. A Christmas pudding can be kept for a long time and are often prepared months in advance. Some families have a tradition of making their Christmas pudding the year before.
