Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a film about Rudolph, first appearing in 1939, by a story written by Robert May. The film was released on 16th October 1998 and was produced by William Kowalckuk.

Plot[]

The Northern Lights Sprites, a group of singing sprites that ride across the North Pole, witness the birth of Rudolph, a baby reindeer with an odd red, shiny nose. Rudolph and his parents, Blitzen and Mitzi, are later joined by Rudolph's three uncles, Dasher, Comet, and Cupid. Cupid tickles Rudolph and makes his glowing nose to shine, attracting attention and making Rudolph ridiculed. Meanwhile, while carrying Santa's mail, two of Santa's elves, Doggle and Boone, cross the evil Ice Queen Stormella's ice bridge, inadvertently breaking some ice sculptures. When Stormella discovers the truth, she demands that Santa return them to her. When he declines, she punishes him by closing her bridge and threatening to produce a blizzard so powerful that it will prevent Santa from distributing gifts to children all over the world on Christmas Eve.

Rudolph begins school a year later, where he is mocked by everyone, including his cruel cousin and Cupid's son, Arrow, for wishing to be among Santa's Flyers, just like his aunt, despite his nose. Mrs. Prancer, Rudolph's trainer, and Zoey, a sweet young doe that Rudolph has a crush on, are the only ones who don't taunt him. Santa Claus encounters Rudolph when he runs away from school and tells him that his nose is beautiful and that to be a Flyer, a reindeer must have a real spirit, which he sees in Rudolph.

Years after, a teen Rudolph competes in the Junior Reindeer Games, where new Flyers for Santa are chosen. Arrow (who is dating Zoey) leads the other contestants to crash during a sleigh race and then attempts to distract Rudolph by saying that Zoey is just sweet to him because she pities him, causing Rudolph's nose to glow with anger and blinding Arrow. Despite winning, Rudolph is disqualified for blinding Arrow, and Arrow wins by default. Arrow is confronted violently by Zoey, who breaks their relationship. As Blitzen attempts to justify his son's conduct in front of the rude referee elf, an eavesdropping Rudolph misinterprets his father's words as an admission of guilt against him and decides to flee the house.

Rudolph travels through the North Pole at night, unknowingly with the aid and encouragement of the Sprites, and finally befriends an Arctic fox named Slyly and later, a polar bear named Leonard. Meanwhile, Zoey discovers that Rudolph has run away from home and sets out to find him. The next morning, she runs upon Stormella's bridge and tries to cross it, considering the repercussions. Stormella, on the other hand, captures her and imprisons her. Boone and Doggle are dispatched by Santa to find Rudolph and Zoey. The Sprites show Rudolph how to use his nose correctly and remind him of Zoey's kidnapping. Rudolph, Leonard, and Slyly travel to Stormella's castle, but Slyly remains outside due to his fear of Stormella's pet dogs, preventing Rudolph and Leonard from entering.

Stormella captures Rudolph and Leonard and imprisons them, then unleashes a huge blizzard on the North Pole. Slyly, having acquired some strength, sneaks into Stormella's room and retrieves a key that opens the jail cells until she falls asleep. Stormella, on the other hand, wakes up and realises this, so she sends her pack of wolves after Rudolph and his mates, trapping them on a cliff. Rudolph blinds Stormella with his nose as she tries to frost Zoey first, sending her toppling off the edge and clinging for dear life. Stormella is grateful to Rudolph and the others for saving her, and she offers to give him a wish. Rudolph wishes Stormella will be cool, much to the annoyance of the Ice Queen.

Despite the fact that her wish is granted in full, Stormella is unable to stop the snowstorm she has produced. Later, Boone and Doggle track down the whole party and return them to Santa's Village. Santa is unable to fly this year due to the blizzard, but when he sees Rudolph's sparkling nose, he asks him to lead his squad of Flyers while also formally naming him a real Flyer. When Rudolph returns from guiding Santa's sleigh through the rain, he is greeted as a hero.
