Santa's sleigh is the vehicle he travels in on his Christmas Eve route to deliver presents to houses. It is his busiest day of the year. A sleigh is a type of large sledge, with one or two benches to seat Santa and the occasional elf. Santa's sleigh is always pulled by eight reindeers, nine if you include Rudolph. He usually leaves the North Pole and arrives at houses between 9 pm and midnight. However, he only arrives in houses when children are fast asleep. If he sees children awake, he will move onto another house.

Santa normally travels west from the International Date Line in the Pacific Ocean. As a result, Santa typically travels to the South Pacific first, followed by New Zealand and Australia. After that, he travels to Japan, Asia, Africa, Western Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Central and South America, and finally Western Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Central and South America. However, bear in mind that Santa's path may be influenced by temperature, making it unpredictable.

Santa can travel the world in 24 hours because Santa is said to be able to fly across the globe in 24 hours though he does not feel time the same way we do. To us, his Christmas Eve journey seems to last 24 hours, but it may take days, weeks, or even months for Santa. Santa does not want to hurry his valuable job of distributing gifts to children and transmitting the Christmas spirit to all, so the only reasonable inference is that he operates within his own new timeline. There is no definitive evidence about how Santa goes down chimneys. Santa pays a visit to any home of children that believe in him.
